 League Information

Allen Sports Association Softball leagues are grade-based and age requirements for each league are based on the Allen Independent School District school registration guidelines.  Allen Sports Association reserves the right to consolidate leagues according to the table below if a single league has four (4) or fewer teams or if the softball board deems consolidation necessary for the benefit of the program.  The League consolidation plan is outlined below:

T-Ball (TB) - Kindergarten and 1st grade

Machine Pitch (MP) - 2nd grade and 3rd grade

Modified Kid Pitch (MKP) - 4th grade and 5th grade

Kid Pitch (KP2) - 6th grade and 7th grade

Kid Pitch (KP1) - 8th grade and 9th grade

Kid Pitch Inter-City League

This past fall we joinied forces with McKinney Girls Softball Association (MGSA) to form a Kid Pitch Inter-City League. The league was very successful and proved beneficial to both leagues so we will continue the program for the Spring 2012 season.

All of our ASA Kid Pitch teams will play at least two games in McKinney against MGSA teams and MGSA teams will come play games against our teams here in Allen as well.

Games played in McKinney will played at The Ballfields at Craig Ranch and/or Gabe Nesbitt Park.

All kid pitch games will have start times at 6:30 pm and 8:00 pm to accomodate travel time for the teams, when applicable.

The season will include 8 games for all teams, with a double-elimination post-season tournament.

Registration Information

To register a player please click on the "registration" button to the left of the page. If your child has played any sport with ASA they are a "returning player" to the association. If they have never played any sport with ASA they are a "new player" to the association.

Registration fees must be paid by credit card at the time of registration. If you choose to pay by check you must come to the ASA office to register in person. Registration forms for registering in person are available at the "Forms" button to the left of the page.

PLAYING UP - Players may play up ONE (1) year from their grade/DOB. We do not allow more than 1 grade/year play-ups. However, 6U players may not play up in to the 6U league. Players must be in kindergarten for the 2011-2012 school year in order to play in the 6U league. No Exceptions!

PLAYING DOWN - We do not allow any players to play down at any time.

TEAM/PLAYER REQUESTS - We do not make any guarantees on team placement unless your child's name is listed on a team roster submitted by the head coach. If you would like your child to play for a particular team you must contact the head coach to inquire about having your child on the team.

If you would like your child to play with a particular player/friend you may put a request in the "notes" section of the registration. However, there are no player placement guarantees. We will make every effort possible to honor a friend/player request but there are no guarantees.

Team Formation

There are two ways teams are formed for the ASA Softball program.

BRING YOUR OWN TEAM

A coach can put together a team of players from his child's school or neighborhood or otherwise. The coach will submit a team roster* to the ASA office so the players will all be guaranteed to be placed on the team. Teams should have a minimum of 8 players to submit a roster. Remaining roster sports, up to a roster max of 12, could be filled through the player draft. If you are unable to produce a roster of 8 players,  contact the appropriate league director to discuss.

Pre-formed team rosters are due by 2/23/12. *Rosters are available at the "forms" button to the left of the page.

Players on pre-formed teams should register individually and mark "On a pre-formed team" as the Registration Type. The league will use the Pre-Formed team roster submitted by the head coach to place the players on their teams.

DRAFT TEAMS

New or redrafting players who are not aligned with a particular team can register to be placed on a team by draft. Teams will be formed by the league once registration has closed. The league makes every effort to place players in the draft on teams with players from their school/neighborhood but there are no player placement guarantees for draft players.

Drafts players should register individually and mark "draft" as the Registration Type. The league will forms teams with draft players once registration has ended.

Uniforms & Equipment

A jersey is provided with registration for our T-Ball league (Kindergarten & 1st Grade).

Jerseys/uniforms are not provided for Machine Pitch and above.

All equipment must be provided by the parent/guardian of the player, including but not limited to:

      • Cleats (excluding t-ball) - No Metal Cleats Allowed!
      • Glove
      • Bat - (Bats must be approved by the Amateur Softball Association)
      • Batting helmet with face mask & chin strap
      • Shorts
      • Socks

Games & Practices

Softball games will be played on designated weeknights. Saturday games will be scheduled as necessary. Each league will have a different weeknight for games, as listed in the table below. Games are played at Allen Station Park softball fields.

T-Ball (Kindergarten & 1st Grade)-- Thursday & Saturday

 Machine Pitch (2nd & 3rd Grade) -- Tuesday & Saturday

Modified Kid Pitch (4th & 5th Grade) -- Thursday & Saturday

Kid Pitch (6th & 7th Grade) -- Monday & Saturday

Fast Pitch (8th & 9th Grade) -- Monday & Saturday

Practices are up to the discretion of the coach. Once teams are formed coaches will inform parents and players of a practice time, day and location for their team. We do not place players based on when or where a team practices because we do not have that information prior to registration closing and team formation.

 * Season dates are tentative and subject to change. Weather, facility availability and other events could alter the season dates.
