LEAGUE ORGANIZATION:

ALL players must register individually by the registration deadline. There is NO team registration. Players from pre-formed teams will be placed on their team roster after they have registered individually.

Each grade (excluding1st & 2nd grade) will offer a recreational and competitive league pending enrollment numbers. The ASA Board reserves the right to merge some grades into one league if enrollment numbers justify such action. The league in which a team plays is determined in the following ways:

TEAM FORMATION:

Teams can be formed either through a blind draft or coaches can “bring their own team”. The following are the procedures for each:

Blind Draft:

Any player who is not on a "pre-formed" team roster will be placed in the blind draft. The blind draft will take place after player evaluations. All players in this category must attend player evaluations prior to team formation.

If a player cannot be present at the player evaluations, they will be assigned to a team by the draft facilitator. No player may be added to any team after the draft without the express consent of the basketball commissioner and the board. Under no circumstances will a player be added to any team once the season has started.

Teams will be formed by coaches and league directors using a blind draft format in an effort to ensure equal distribution of skill level by team.

Any requests regarding specific player placement must be in writing to the basketball commissioner prior to the blind draft. The ASA Basketball Board will review any parent or player refusing to accept the coach or team in which they were selected.

Pre-Formed Teams:

Coaches may “bring their own teams” (pre-formed teams) provided the head coach submits a roster of player’s names to the ASA office no later than 5 p.m. OCT 21 (Grades 1-6) and Nov 12 ( Middle School and High School). Rosters can be submitted via fax at (972) 727-9760 or email Basketball@allensports.org. Please keep in mind that a team roster is NOT an official registration for players. All players must register individually. All players will remain in the “unassigned folder” until the coach's roster is submitted and verified. Pre-formed Team Roster links here: (PDF) (Excel)

When registering, parents MUST request that their child be placed on the head coach’s pre-formed team. It is the head coach's responsibility to ensure that each parent registers their child correctly.

Rosters should consist of a minimum of 7 players and cannot exceed 10 players. Pre-formed teams MUST bring in a minimum of 7 players. NO EXCEPTIONS!

Coaches will NOT be allowed to add to their rosters AFTER the set deadlines above.

Coach Registration All Coaches should register online. If you do not register as a coach we will not know if you will be coaching and you will not be able to access your team roster. Coaches must register during the dates provided for player registration. Once you have registered as a coach you will be contacted if further information is necessary. If you are planning on buying your own team uniforms, be sure to contact ASA for required specs on jerseys. New Coaches Returning Coaches New coaches are coaches who have not coaches in any ASA sports. Returning coaches are coaches who have previously coached in an ASA sport.
