ASA Cheerleading

The Allen Sports Association Cheerleading program is open to all girls in kindergarten through 6th grade. We have two programs to offer to cheerleaders. The programs are described below.

Recreational Cheer

The cheerleaders are grouped in to squads of 6 to 12 girls who are aligned with football teams in the ASA football program. The squads cheer for the specified teams during the regular football season which typically runs August through November.

The girls also get the chance to participate in a pre-season conditioning Cheer Camp that will run for two weeks prior to the start of the regular season. The girls will receive a t-shirt and work in groups to learn cheers, chants and more for the upcoming season.

Cheerleaders participate in an end of season cheer competition.  Other special events included for the cheerleaders to participate in include: Pre-season “Jamboree”, the Allen Christmas Parade and much more.

 Recreational Competitive Cheer

ASA Recreational Competitive Cheerleaders work throughout the season to build a strong routine to compete at regional cheer competitions.  All ASA competitive cheerleaders are required to register and participate as a recreational cheerleader and cheer for a specified football team.  Competitive Cheerleaders will be chosen through a tryout process in early Spring.

Prior to tryouts, a Competitive Cheerleading Town Hall meeting will be held to answer questions regarding this program.  Please see the calendar for location and times.  Information regarding competitive cheerleading and detailed tryout information will be covered at the mandatory Competitive Cheer Parent Meeting (see Calendar for dates, times, and locations).  All competitive cheerleaders must be enrolled in tumbling classes year round.

The girls will get the chance to participate in a one week private camp that will occur in the summer.  The girls will receive specialized training from certified cheerleading coaches in areas such as: stunting, tumbling, cheering, and dancing.

During football season, recreational cheerleaders will have competitive cheer practice two days per week.  Once football season is complete and competition season nears, practices may increase.  Each competitive squad will have the opportunity to participate in approximately 4 competitions per season (excluding championships/nationals).
