How do I become a coach?
- Register Online www.allensports.org, click on the sport you intend to coach, click “Coach Registration,” Follow links to appropriate league/division, select “unassigned coach registration,” Complete Online Registration Form OR enter SportsPilot user ID & Password to auto-complete the Online Registration Form if you are a returning coach, Be sure you complete the registration by entering the payment information. There is no charge, it is a $0 transaction, but is required for identity verification purposes.
- If you are a new coach, fill out the coaches’ application (click here for the soccer coaching application). Once complete, please submit it to the ASA office. These forms are required in order to run a mandatory, periodic background check. For convenience, these can be faxed to 972-727-9760.
- If you are a returning coach, you will be contacted if any information needs to be updated.
- Attend ASA required coaching certification classes. Please click here for available classes.
- Once all these steps have been completed, you must get a coaching badge. Once you are able to get a badge, the ASA office will notify all coaches when they may start to get them. Badges require a photo.
Will my child be on the team that I am coaching?
You will be able to coach for the team your child is placed on, provided there is room for another coach. You cannot sign up to coach for a team in order to have your child placed on that team. Every player must go through their particular sport’s team formation process.
Who has registered on my team?
You can check your roster by going online to www.sportspilot.com and clicking “Member Entrance.” Enter your coaches’ User Name and Password to view your coaching history and team rosters. If you have not signed up to coach, you can’t view your roster or get information about it from the ASA office.
Why am I not on my roster?
All coaches must be placed on their roster after being reviewed by the ASA office to ensure a proper and current application and background check has been completed. This could take up to eight to ten business days. If you are not on your roster, you cannot get information about your team.
Why can’t we pick our teams?
Each sport has its own rules about team formation. These rules may vary depending on the program, but are all intended to provide the most enjoyable experience to all players, regardless of ability. Some of these rules are mandated by governing bodies for specific sports, and others are developed at the ASA level. Please refer to each sport’s rules about team formation.
Is there a cost to coach?
There is no cost to be an ASA coach; however, you must complete all the requirements.
Is there a deadline for registration?
Some sports have deadlines because rosters must be submitted to a governing association for insurance purposes. Please sign up by the player registration deadline to ensure proper placement.
Why do I have to register online?
Every coach needs to register online so that we know that they will be coaching. It follows the same concept as player registration in that we will not know you plan to coach if you don’t register online.
Why is everything online?
The Allen Sports Association has over 13000 players registering every year. These players, in 11 different sports, are managed by two sports specialists. Having everything online makes this possible, and helps to lower player fees by increasing efficiency.
